Discovering the Hidden Gems In Your Hymnal

A walk through your congregational hymnbook to discover more of its untapped treasures.

Your congregation likes singing hymns. That’s great. But sometimes it feels like you’re only singing the same four of five of them, over and over again. In this workshop, we’ll help you uncover some of the history behind your hymnbook, as well as some tricks and tips on how to discover learn and teach the unfamiliar hymns inside it, and how to enliven the singing of your congregation overall.

Led by Gary Rand, who’s not only familiar with hymnody from a variety of traditions through his work as a worship leader, his scholarly background and ongoing worship leadership at Chicago’s McCormick Theological Seminary, this session will be very participatory and practical – come prepared to do some singing together!
