“We aren’t racist, are we?”
An open conversation on racism in the church and in worship and what we can do about it.
What if you come from a progressive (though mostly white) congregation, and you hate the racist words and actions you see all around you, and want to be an anti-racist church? Where do you begin? Or if you’ve already tried to take some steps forward, what can you do better?
Led by Darren Calhoun, a racial justice activist, teacher and speaker who’s also worked on this issue within his own local church, in this workshop we’ll enter into “brave space” to talk honestly about what racism really is, and create an atmosphere where difficult questions can be asked and stories can be shared. And we’ll look at some doable, but powerful ways to start changing things.
